As a member-owned organisation, we have a proud heritage of protecting the Australian medical profession that spans 123 years. Established by a small group of doctors in 1893, we are now Australia’s leading doctor’s mutual, representing 75,000 healthcare professionals and students. We are owned and run purely for the benefit of our members, which means we are always seeking ways to better protect and support our members. With offices in every mainland State and territory no one has more resources or experience to defend you than our in-house team of over 100 medico-legal experts, lawyers, medical advisors, claims managers and local state specialists. With our dedicated law firm, Avant Law, we’ve built an extensive defence team, being the largest specialist medico-legal law firm in Australia. We support our members with a range of products and services beyond medical defence and indemnity insurance, designed not only to safeguard their career and reputation, but also to protect them and their families. Speak to our local Avant representative today about switching to the MDO more doctors choose.
